Are you looking for tips for planning your engagement photos? If you are here you are most likely preparing for your engagement session. Whether you have been in front of the camera before, or this is your first time ever being professionally photographed… We are here to help. Consider these five things when planning out your session.
One of the first things to think through is what type of location are you looking for. If you are planning a beach location its important to consider the weather and the time year. Some couples prefer the fall for the cozy weather, others prefer warmer weather. Living in Southern California we are so lucky to have beautiful weather year round. Each time of year can offer a beautiful outcome, but depending on the end result, it’s best to plan out ahead so you get the type of season you love. Some couples don’t have a preference, others prefer a season that is special to them. Keep in mind some locations are busier than others.
I always recommend my couples come with two outfits. One more casual and the other a little dressy to maximize the experience. I always recommend having your clothes compliment the area you are in. Neutral colors are always a great idea.
Can you think back to the last time you had your hair done or bought a new outfit? You feel so confident. I always recommend my clients get a little extra pampered when they are planning their engagement session. Showing up to your engagement session feeling confident is the best way to maximize the experience.
If dressing up isn’t your thing and you want to do something more casual to capture your relationship with your fiance, you can! There is never a set rule on how this all should look. Engagement sessions can look different. If that means dressing in your favorite jeans and t-shirt and heading to get ice cream and walk around down town we can make that happen! Some couples prefer photos in their own home to capture their day to day life. Whatever that feels like you both is always the best choice.
After years of looking at Pinterest it can be difficult to not want to show every image you love to your photographer. I love Pinterest for inspiration. There is nothing wrong with sending over a Pinterest board to your photographer to show the vibe you are going for. I love when my clients send over their inspiration photos to get a feel for what they love. I love it even more when they trust that I will create beautiful moments for them that are pinterest worthy and unique to them!
