On my 29th birthday It hit me. I was unhealthy. I struggled to find the perfect outfit to wear going out (because nothing fit right), my skin looked and felt as if it wasn’t properly taken care of, and I wasn’t happy.
I made a commitment to myself. I would make changes by 30! Why not start a new decade of life on the right path. If you know me well you know I’m anti new year resolutions, so this was hard to me to commit to. Especially knowing I had a full year to reach my goals. Which made it even harder to begin. It was not an easy or quick process. Each day I had to make a choice to continue on with new habits…

I had an unhealthy relationship with eating. I would eat when I felt like it, and usually that meant hours after I should have. I would go for whatever was easiest, which usually included mac and cheese, pizza, or a bean and cheese burrito. I found myself hungry late and night and would go for the snack food items.
I began my eating healthy Journey on February 15th, 2019. I stopped eating unhealthy snacks and desserts. I started eating more protein, more fruits and veggies, and a lot less Del Taco.
For years I hated the gym. It wasn’t actually working out that I avoided, but more so the time and energy it took to commit to going. I had to make some serious changes if I wanted to be a healthier version of myself. It’s been five full months of cleaner eating, and consistency at the gym. I have no regrets. Today I can enjoy entering my 30s with more energy, 24 pounds lighter, and with much more confidence. I do have a little less time in my day, but I feel so much better. I am thankful for a husband who helped me feel confident in the gym, a friend who became my gym buddy (Thanks Savannah!) and a new found love for working out!
I’ve always enjoyed cleaning products. I mostly enjoyed walking down the cleaning aisle at target and picking out a new cleaner, (strange I know). I would constantly get headaches after cleaning, and my dogs would be sneezing. I finally made the switch to an all natural cleaner that I use for everything in my home. One of my dogs even seems to enjoy it!
I always had this never ending desire to be well liked. I wanted to say yes to everything and partially so I wouldn’t have any sort of “FOMO”. I Had to learn to say no. I needed downtime. As an introvert being constantly social in my work life can be very draining. Saying no so I could make room for rest was exactly what I needed. I also learned to say no to sleeping in, and no to my selfish desire of doing nothing.
While I still have a lot of growth, I’m excited to starting this new decade on a better path. So here’s to entering my 30’s healthier than I have been and with a better vision of who I am and how I want to continue to grow in my life!
